Yoga is more than poses on the mat. Yoga is a science of how to live in the world with more peace and ease. The stories we tell ourselves arenโt true, yet itโs those stories from surviving childhood that run our adult lives. Through self-inquiry, non-harming, gratitude, and other yogic principles, we learn to let go of our stories and feel more whole within ourselves.
This doesnโt always come easily, especially when you are a Type A recovering perfectionist.
Janine Agoglia is a GenX yoga instructor who has been practicing yoga since 1995. Yoga has helped her let go of perfectionism, anxiety, and depression, and navigate the challenges of life. Through honest reflections and owning her humanity, Janine shares her bumpy and unskillful journey to finding peace and surrender. Yoga is a practice, not a โperfect.โ
This book takes you through the Yamas and Niyamas, the first 2 limbs of yoga, to help you take yoga off the mat and into your life. Explore what yoga off the mat has to offer you on your journey.
These concepts are thousands of years old, but still apply to modern life. Along with journal prompts and exercises, Janine hopes that this book creates space for growth within you. Her explanations of these ideas are meant to help you live your yoga practice more fully and completely, and find peace and balance in your day to day life.
Coming in 2025:
Intentional Eating: Finding Peace and Balance in Your Relationship with Food
Janine’s second book accompanies her online coaching course of the same title, or you can read it on its own. If you have ever struggled with eating your feelings (or numbing in other ways), this book is for you. Janine has struggled with food her whole life, and it has been through her yoga practice that she’s gained a better handle on when and why she eats, giving her more power over the choices she makes.
Letting go of shame and being kind to yourself is one of the many mindset shifts she discusses, along with how to apply principles of yoga to how you relate to food. Food is necessary for survival, but sometimes we eat when we don’t require calories. This book aims to help you understand different types of hunger, why you eat, and how to feel better in the body that you have.
More information about this book’s release coming later in 2025.
